Radial ground O.D's, or outside diameters are achieved generally speaking by grinding the cutting edge under the periphery of the grinding wheel. Usually the wheel is turned to match the helix angle of the tools flute. When a cutting tool is produced this way, the edge becomes a rounded surface with constant increasing clearance to the cutting edge.
This produces a very strong edge, vs a conventionally ground cutter.
The conventionally ground edge is ground as an upsharp angle to the cutter edge.
